Job Description
Staff Product Manager - PLG & B2C SaaS
Remote | Part-Time or Full-Time (20–40 Hours/Week)
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced, hands‑on Staff Product Manager to drive product growth for a subscription‑based SaaS business. This role is ideal for someone passionate about customer behavior, data‑driven decision‑making, and building products that improve activation, retention, and monetization. You’ll work directly with the founder/CEO and collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Infrastructure teams. You’ll have significant ownership of the product roadmap and the end‑to‑end user journey, with opportunities to expand into a broader leadership role based on your impact.
Location & Work Arrangement
Work mode: 100% remote.
Open locations: United States (Eastern Time Zone only), Europe, Indonesia, Russia, and other eligible countries, subject to location and time‑zone compatibility.
Engagement: Full-time (40 hours/week) or part‑time (20 hours/week).
Key Responsibilities
- Own the product growth strategy and roadmap, connecting customer needs with business objectives.
- Develop and execute strategies to reduce voluntary and involuntary churn.
- Optimize onboarding and activation to help users experience product value faster.
- Reduce time-to-value by identifying and removing friction throughout the user journey.
- Improve first‑week engagement through behavioral triggers, product education, lifecycle messaging, and feature adoption initiatives.
- Drive monetization and subscription revenue growth through continuous product optimization.
- Conduct regular customer interviews, churn interviews, cancellation surveys, and product discovery research.
- Analyze customer behavior, identify growth opportunities, and translate insights into actionable product initiatives.
- Design, run, and evaluate experiments to measure the impact of product changes.
- Define and monitor key metrics, including activation, retention, churn, conversion, customer lifetime value (LTV), average revenue per user (ARPU), and payback period.
- Work closely with Engineering and Infrastructure teams to prioritize, deliver, and measure product improvements.
- Establish a consistent product and engineering execution rhythm, ensuring decisions are driven by data and customer insights.
Requirements
- 7–10+ years of product experience: Extensive experience across different product roles, preferably in Product‑Led Growth (PLG) environments within subscription‑based SaaS businesses.
- 7+ years of experience improving activation and reducing churn: Demonstrated experience using customer interviews and product experiments to improve activation and reduce churn. Candidates must provide specific examples supported by measurable results and numbers.
- 7+ years of data‑driven product experience: Strong experience working closely with data, using product analytics tools to analyze user behavior, identify opportunities, and guide product decisions.
- 7+ years of user‑journey optimization experience: Proven experience mapping the B2C user journey, breaking it down into meaningful segments, and identifying opportunities to improve the overall customer experience.
- Strong PLG and subscription SaaS background: Experience with self‑serve subscription products that allow users to register, try, and purchase independently without requiring interaction with a sales team.
- B2C SaaS subscription experience: Strongly preferred. General B2C experience alone, without relevant SaaS subscription experience, is not sufficient. B2B SaaS experience is also acceptable when the product follows a genuine self‑serve PLG model.
- Customer research and experimentation: Experience conducting customer interviews, identifying customer pain points, and running experiments to validate improvements and measure their impact.
- Subscription analytics: Strong understanding of subscription metrics, including retention cohorts, retention curves, churn segmentation, customer lifetime value (LTV), average revenue per user (ARPU), and payback period.
- Fluent English: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills are essential.
- Hands‑on execution: Ability to own product strategy while remaining actively involved in product development, analytics, experimentation, and execution.
- Bonus Qualifications
- Relevant industry experience: Experience in VPN, VPS, hosting, cloud storage, or consumer infrastructure SaaS.
- Product leadership experience: 2+ years in a management role, such as Product Lead, Head of Product, or Director of Product.
- Informal team leadership: Experience leading teams or driving cross‑functional initiatives without holding an official management title.
- Marketing and acquisition exposure: Experience with marketing, customer acquisition, or growth initiatives.
This Role May Not Be the Right Fit If You:
- Have worked exclusively in marketing without direct product or growth ownership.
- Have no meaningful experience with product‑led growth and self‑serve products.
- Have worked only with sales‑led products without relevant self‑serve subscription SaaS experience.
- Prefer a purely strategic or managerial role without hands‑on execution.
What We Offer
- 100% remote work with flexibility to work from different locations worldwide, subject to location and time‑zone requirements.
- Flexible engagement options: 20 or 40 hours per week.
- Direct collaboration with the founder/CEO and significant ownership of product strategy and execution.
- The opportunity to shape the product roadmap and make a measurable impact on business growth.
- Potential to expand into a broader product leadership role based on performance and business needs.
- A collaborative, international team environment.
- Professional growth through exposure to multiple areas of the business.
- Mentorship and direct collaboration with the founder/CEO.
