Job summary

Reddit is seeking a Staff ML Engineer to shape the technical direction across multiple ML pillars in the Ads Foundations team, driving end-to-end projects from business gap analysis to deployment. You will lead cross-functional ML initiatives, mentor engineers, and balance hands-on data work with strategic leadership.

You will collaborate with product and data science, build state-of-the-art embedding models for ads use cases, and ensure scalable, reliable ML systems with strong best practices

Qualifications

• 7+ years hands-on experience with full lifecycle of designing, training, evaluating, testing, and deploying industry-level models.
• Demonstrated staff-level technical leadership: mentoring engineers, driving standards and bar raising, leading complex cross-functional projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to ML engineers, driving designs and reviews.
• Develop technical strategy for content-based embeddings and relevance for Ads.
• Develop embedding models for advertising, from pipelines to two-tower architectures and sequence models.
• Work with LLMs/VLMs: extract representations, evaluate, and fine-tune models for state-of-the-art embeddings.
• Build data processing and inference pipelines for our models.
• Qualitatively and quantitatively evaluate features and run end-to-end experiments.
• Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of ML systems with tests and monitoring.
• Review others' work to maintain quality and performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
