Flow Traders in Amsterdam seeks a Staff Engineer to lead architectural direction for trading automation and backend platforms. As a senior IC, you will shape scalable, event-driven systems, mentor engineers, and collaborate with trading, risk, and operations to maximise business value.

You will drive standards, decommission legacy systems, and partner with technology and quant teams to deliver reliable, high-throughput infrastructure across regions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience at Staff/Principal level or cross-team Lead.
• Proven ability to influence senior technical and business stakeholders and drive consensus across multiple teams.
• Deep expertise in building distributed, high-performance backend systems.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the long-term technical architecture for trading automation, risk, and post-trade platforms.
• Mentor senior engineers, guide tech leads, and drive technical alignment across fragmented systems.
• Partner with trading, quant, risk and operations to align technical choices with business value.
• Drive automation in post-trade and middle-office workflows to reduce operational risk.
