Role
Senior Electronic Hardware Engineer
Responsibilities
- As a Senior Electronic Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of complex Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs).
- You will translate the provided system architecture into a detailed electronic schematic, including a Bill of Materials (BOM) and all necessary documentation. The board layout is handled by dedicated layout specialists and is not part of your responsibilities.
- You will validate and release the final design through simulations and testing. A well-equipped laboratory with all the necessary measurement tools is available for this purpose.
Team
- You will be part of the Hardware Engineering Department within Thales SIX in Huizen, consisting of approximately 35 professionals.
- This department is primarily responsible for developing new products, covering both the mechanical and electronic aspects. It also manages production preparation activities. Development is carried out in multidisciplinary teams of around eight people. As a Senior Electronic Hardware Engineer, you will function as the lead engineer within such a team.
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering (Electronics).
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar role, having led multiple full-cycle PCBA design projects.
- Experience in designing high-speed signal PCBAs and interfaces.
- Ability to oversee and guide layout activities.
- Proven experience in Signal Integrity simulation and implementation:
- External interfaces (e.g., connector transitions & S-parameter modeling).
- Experience with EMC-compliant design practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Cadence design tools.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as GIT.
- Knowledge and experience with intercom systems and/or complex network solutions (e.g., server/client architectures).
- Experience with platform standards such as COM Express Type 6/7 and SMARC 2.0.
- 10Gb Ethernet
- USB 2.0 / 3.0
- Ethernet including Power over Ethernet (PoE)
- Experience in developing military-grade applications and working with military standards such as MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-461.
- Experience with thermal design and optimizing heat management for processor platforms.
