Job summary

Independent Space News seeks a Head of the Space Segment Section within ESA to lead development activities for satellite space segment technology and products and to oversee ARTES IC programs and dashboards for internal monitoring.

The role requires a master’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience, or a bachelor’s degree with four additional years, and strong leadership, planning and stakeholder-management abilities for an international context (ESTEC Noordwijk or Harwell).

Qualifications

• Experience in managing and monitoring technology and product development activities carried out by industry for satellite communication applications.
• Background in ESA processes and industrial development, verification and procurement.

Responsibilities

• Initiating and managing development activities for satellite space segment technology and products.
• Providing regular technical, programmatic and financial reporting to ESA management.
• Managing the Section, including manpower plans and resource requirements.
• Providing engineering support to projects with emphasis on disruptive technologies.
• Coordinating with Directorate units and supporting ARTES workplans.
• Establishing collaboration with other functional elements of the Department and Directorate.
