Job summary

EUROPEAN SPACE AGENCY in the Netherlands seeks an Optoelectronics Engineer to work on advanced photonic technologies for space missions. You will contribute to optical clocks, detectors, lasers and integration across the project life cycle.

The role requires a master’s degree in physics or photonics and at least four years of relevant experience; a PhD is an asset. You will collaborate across sections, lead development activities and support procurement and testing programs.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in physics, photonics, optoelectronics or related field.
  • At least four years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience with optical atomic clocks, frequency combs, lasers or photonic tech is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of environmental testing and space hardware is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert technical support and consultancy on optical atomic clocks, frequency combs, lasers and photonic technologies for space projects.
  • Participate in feasibility studies, project reviews and procurement evaluations.
  • Define technology development requirements and work plans for ESA programs.
  • Lead R&D activities and explore new application areas in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Coordinate laboratory activities and disseminate results across the Agency.
