Job summary

The European Space Agency invites recent Master’s graduates to join its Luxembourg-based National Graduate Trainee programme in Opto-Electronics and Quantum Engineering. Trainees gain hands-on experience across space-related disciplines, with exposure to R&D, testbeds, and laboratory environments.

You will work in the Optoelectronics Section on developing simulation tools, testbeds, and calibration tasks for Lidar, detectors, and quantum technologies, under sponsorship by an ESA Member State.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in physics or engineering completed or in final year.
• Knowledge of optical lab setups (lasers, detectors, optics) and data acquisition is an asset.
• Experience working in international teams is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support optoelectronics R&D within the ESA Optoelectronics Section.
• Develop and test simulation tools for optical/quantum systems.
• Assist in lab setups, alignment and calibration of photonic components.
• Contribute to integration and commissioning of test benches for sensors and detectors.
