Job summary

TNO Delft is seeking a project manager for optics manufacturing within Space Systems Engineering. You will ensure timely delivery of technology development and optics projects, often at the edge of what's technically possible, while leading a diverse team and coordinating with partners.

You will manage multidisciplinary teams, engage with space agencies and industry, and contribute to ongoing innovation. The role includes proposal work, international travel, and close collaboration with the

Qualifications

• Proven track record managing projects and teams in the space domain or related areas.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact with strategic partners.
• Experience with stakeholders such as space agencies (ESA, NASA) and regulated industries.
• Ability to align project pace with industry needs and demands.
• Affinity with innovation and research.
• Visible willingness to develop new ways of working for faster delivery.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience with PM methodologies (IPMA, PMP, Prince2) is a plus.
• Experience in small-series or prototyping production is a plus.
• Affinity with space optics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ensure technology development and optics manufacturing projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, researchers and technicians with stakeholders in complex coalitions.
• Collaborate with the Optics Manufacturing Business Development Team on project acquisition and proposals.
• Travel internationally as needed and report to the (deputy) Research Manager of Space Systems Engineering.
