Job summary

ATG Europe seeks a Mechanical Test Engineer to support the ESA Test Centre in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The role focuses on MGSE design and testing facilities, ensuring reliable test operations and ESA compliance.

You will generate 3D CAD models, fabrication drawings, and technical documentation for fabrication and implementation. Responsibilities include FEM analyses, design justification, project coordination with ESA teams and suppliers, and documentation of engineering activities.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial Engineering or related field.
• At least 4 years of proven experience in mechanical design and development of engineering systems or test facilities.
• Experience with 3D CAD design tools (3DX or equivalent).
• Experience performing structural analyses and FEM (Nastran/Patran or similar).
• Ability to produce manufacturing drawings, technical specifications and design justification documentation.
• Experience managing technical projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Knowledge of testing, verification, inspection, and acceptance processes.
• Experience developing engineering documentation including schematics and P&ID diagrams.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken).
• Eligibility to work in the EU.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain MGSE to support testing activities in ESTEC laboratories and facilities.
• Produce 3D CAD models, drawings, and technical documentation for fabrication.
• Perform structural analyses and FEM to verify design compliance.
• Prepare design justification documents with calculations and assumptions.
• Ensure MGSE designs meet technical requirements, quality standards, and ESA regulations.
• Provide engineering support during manufacturing, assembly, and commissioning.
• Coordinate verification activities including inspections and tests.
• Manage facility development and upgrades as required by stakeholders.
• Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers to deliver projects.
• Monitor safety, quality, and schedule compliance for design and development activities.
• Develop and maintain engineering documentation including 3D models and P&ID diagrams.
• Support testing, audits, and acceptance activities for engineered systems and facilities.
