Job summary

European Space Agency (ESA) seeks an IT Infrastructure Engineer to join ESTEC in Noordwijk, NL. The role focuses on maintaining VMware/Hyper-V environments, automation, and secure integration of customer applications within mission-critical IT services.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of IT infrastructure exp., strong scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python) and Linux/Windows proficiency, plus English fluency. On-site work with international collaboration and relocation support.

Qualifications

• University degree (or equivalent) in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Informatics, or related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience as IT Infrastructure Engineer.
• Strong hands-on experience with AD, Windows Server, Linux (Debian/Ubuntu/CentOS).
• Proficiency in scripting/automation: PowerShell, Bash, Python.
• VMware, Hyper-V virtualization; Docker containerisation.
• Networking knowledge with TCP/IP; network switching.
• Experience with monitoring: Zabbix; backups with Veeam/NetBackup.
• Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills.
• Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain VMware, Hyper-V and Cloud Director environments with monitoring and capacity planning.
• Administer infrastructure tech including servers, network devices, storage and backup solutions.
• Facilitate secure integration of customer applications; ensure IT security policy alignment.
• Operate and maintain classified IT environments with compliance to security procedures.
• Develop automation and support scripts using Bash and Python to streamline operations.
• Integrate project-delivered hardware/OS/software into the client’s infrastructure.
• Contribute to reliability, security and continuous improvement of mission-critical IT services.
