Job summary

WLG in The Hague is hiring three software development engineers to deliver gap capability work packages on integrated command and control systems. It is a mix of new build and modernising legacy software in a collaborative, office-based team.

Three positions on the same package, so you would join a team rather than land it solo. You will develop server-side logic in Java and Python, design data schemas with SQL, and implement CI/CD with Jenkins or GitLab.

Qualifications

• Recent hands-on experience across Java, Python and SQL.
• Solid experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines and automated tests.
• Linux experience with Podman or Docker.
• Production experience with Angular or React.

Responsibilities

• Develop, deploy and maintain server-side logic in Java and Python.
• Design data schemas and implement SQL back-ends.
• Apply proper engineering discipline: Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated tests.
• Run workloads on Linux with Podman or Docker.
• Translate UI/UX designs into responsive web applications with Angular or React.

We are hiring three software development engineers to deliver gap capability work packages on integrated command and control systems in The Hague. It is a genuine mix of new build and the harder, more interesting job of modernising software that has been in service for years.

What You Will Be Doing

• Developing, deploying and maintaining server side logic in Java and Python
• Designing data schemas and writing solid SQL behind them
• Working to proper engineering discipline: Git for versioning, CI and CD through Jenkins or GitLab, rigorous automated testing
• Running your work on Linux, with container engines such as Podman or Docker
• Translating UI and UX designs into responsive web applications with Angular or React
• Debugging older code bases and modernising legacy systems

What you will need

• Recent, hands on experience across Java, Python and SQL
• Comfort with Git, Jenkins or GitLab pipelines, and automated testing as a habit rather than an afterthought
• Linux, plus Podman or Docker
• Angular or React in production
• Evidence you have taken on someone else's legacy code and made it better
• Hibernate, Protocol Buffers, gRPC, Ansible, Kubernetes, event streaming, Spring or command and control applications are all a bonus
