- Take full technical ownership of a sophisticated, multi-layered software platform at a growing deep-tech company
- Advanced work spanning high-performance computing, physics-based algorithms and complex metrology systems
- €80,000 to €100,000 including holiday allowance, plus employee share ownership
Chikara HR is working with a fast-growing semiconductor metrology company in Eindhoven that is developing next-generation measurement technology for chip manufacturers. They are looking for a Software Architect to own the technical direction of their inference software platform and connect the teams working across the full stack.
This is a technical lead role with no people-management responsibility. You drive architecture and decisions directly, and you stay hands-on at any level of the stack when it matters. You will still write code regularly.
The company is small, with a professional, fast-paced culture, short communication lines and a strong sense of shared purpose. As the product scales the team will grow around you, so you will have the opportunity to shape how the department develops.
Key responsibilities:
- Define and maintain the software architecture across the full stack, so every subsystem integrates into a scalable, coherent platform
- Coordinate technical work across internal and external development teams, aligning scope, deliverables and timelines with the architecture roadmap
- Oversee high-performance computing solutions that process large-scale, complex metrology data
- Guide the speed optimisation of algorithms for measurement data interpretation, using the company's high-performance computing infrastructure
- Set clear technical agreements with external development partners on deliverables and how they are qualified
- Get hands-on with challenging issues at any level of the stack when it is needed
About you:
- Strong, proven expertise in software engineering and architecture, ideally in an environment where software engineering, physics, applied mathematics and computer science intersect
- 7 to 10 years of professional software development experience with architectural responsibility
- 3 to 5 years as technical lead for a team or complex software project, driving technical direction and decisions
- Strong, equally proficient programming skills in Python and C/C++ (or a comparable systems language), including experience profiling and optimising performance-critical code
- You still write or review code in your current role. This is a hands-on architect role, so recent coding matters
- Based in or willing to relocate to Eindhoven, as the role is on-site
Nice to have, but not required:
- PhD in computer science, physics, applied mathematics or computational science
- Familiarity with C#
- Experience with high-performance computing, parallel processing or large-scale data processing
- Background in semiconductor physics, metrology or measurement technologies
- Experience with algorithm development, mathematical modelling, inverse problems or computational physics
- Experience with physics-informed machine learning or deep neural networks applied to physical systems
- You do not need a semiconductor background. If you have built complex software around scientific instruments, simulation, high-performance computing or hardware control, we would like to hear from you.
- Full ownership of how the software platform is built, at the heart of the company's technology
- Base salary of €80,000 to €100,000 including holiday allowance
- Employee Share Ownership Plan
- Learning and development budget to support your growth
- Flexible working arrangements and plenty of autonomy over how you get the work done
Selection process:
- Introductory call with us
- First stage interview with hiring manager
- Technical interview
- Final interview with the CEO
