Job summary

GEA is seeking an on-site mechanical supervisor to oversee welding and piping tasks across customer sites in the Netherlands, with possible work in Belgium. You will plan maintenance, organize work permits, and provide instructions to mechanical teams and subcontractors, ensuring strict HSE compliance throughout the project.

The role requires experience leading on-site teams, familiarity with TIG welding and thin-wall piping in food-industry settings, and willingness to travel between sites.

Qualifications

• Mechanical training and experience, including TIG welding and thin-wall piping in the food industry.
• VCA-VOL safety certification for Operational Supervisors.
• Experience leading teams on site.
• Willing to work at different customer locations in the Netherlands and possibly Belgium.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and supervise mechanical work (TIG welding and piping).
• Plan maintenance and mechanical work on machinery and installations.
• Organise and monitor work permits; ensure HSE compliance.
• Instruct mechanical technicians and subcontractors on site operations.
• Report progress to the project manager/responsible person; ensure safe, orderly sites.

Job description

Responsibilities / Tasks

• Preparing and supervising mechanical work (TIG welding / piping)
• Involved in preparing cost estimates and quotations
• Planning maintenance and mechanical work on machinery and installations
• Organising and monitoring work permits
• Providing instructions to all mechanical technicians (focus) and to other subcontractors like electricians or insulators
• Supervising work activities and HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) compliance
• Managing the return of materials and tools (during and after work activities)
• Reporting work progress and completed activities to the project manager/responsible person

Responsibilities

• Maintaining clean and safe workplaces
• Reporting on completed work activities
• Ensuring compliance with the customer's safety regulations and site rules
• Acting as the contact person between GEA and the customer
• Overall work planning and coordination
• Cost control : keep working hours under control and within budgeted number of hours
• Ensuring the workplace is left clean and orderly upon completion of the work
• Completing incident reporting forms correctly in the event of any emergencies or incidents (calamities)
• Performing safety inspections and toolboxes with work staff

Your Profile / Qualifications

• Mechanical training and experience (including knowledge of TIG welding and thin-wall piping systems in the food industry)
• VCA-VOL (Safety Certificate for Operational Supervisors)
• Experience with leading teams on site
• Willing to work on different customer locations within the Netherlands and possibly Belgium
