Job summary

Mercury Engineering in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, is seeking a Setting Out Engineer to join our construction team. You will perform precise set-out of building elements, verify spatial accuracy on site, and report progress daily against drawings and tolerances.

The role requires a minimum 7 level in Surveying/Geomatics or Civil Engineering, 2–3 years surveying experience, and proficiency with total station, laser scanner, AutoCAD and Navisworks.

Qualifications

• Minimum level 7 qualification in Surveying, Geomatics or Civil Engineering.
• 2–3 years surveying experience.
• Strong capability with surveying equipment including total station and laser scanner.
• Knowledge of scan post-processing software.
• Verification reporting of install.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings.
• Good communication with construction management, engineering and site crews.
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD/Navisworks.
• Willingness to travel to different sites as needed is must.

Responsibilities

• Precise set out of building elements as per relevant construction drawings.
• Ongoing checks during construction to ensure spatially accurate positioning of building elements.
• Survey of final position of all relevant building elements once construction complete has been achieved.
• Daily reporting of all works completed, including stakeout and set up reports.
• Reporting of final location of install to demonstrate conformance to construction tolerance.
• Establishment of temporary control where necessary.
• All general measurement activities as required by construction team to achieve spatially accurate construction.
• Maintain all surveying equipment in proper working order to achieve required accuracies.
• Compliance with Mercury EHS policies and procedures.
• Completion of task specific site safety documentation.
• All other duties as required by the Company.

Essential Criteria for the Role:

• Min. level 7 qualification in Surveying, Geomatics or Civil Engineering
• 2 - 3 years surveying experience
• Strong capability with the use of surveying equipment including total station and laser scanner
• Knowledge of scan post-processing software
• Verification reporting of install
• Ability to interpret construction drawings
• Good communication skills; liaise with construction management, engineering and site crews.
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD/ Navis works.
• Reporting of survey work completed.
