Job summary

Swift is seeking a Senior Windows System Engineer to join the Windows Squad in Leiden. You will help design and maintain Windows infrastructure with a strong focus on security, efficiency, and standardization.

The role involves hands-on support, on-call rotations, and collaborating with IT teams across environments. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of experience, expertise in AD/GPO, SCCM/Intune, PowerShell, and VMware, and fluency in English.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of proven Windows system engineering experience.
• Strong security, standardization and automation mindset.
• Proficient in Active Directory management and GPO handling.
• Familiarity with SCCM or Intune and PowerShell scripting.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day Windows system administration and deployments.
• Resolve incidents and drive problem management with SLAs.
• Deploy releases and updates per Change Management.
• Participate in system/network projects with risk mitigation.
• Collaborate with network services and applications teams to ensure service availability.
• Automate tasks and improve monitoring to meet business needs.
• Contribute to resilience design and operational principles.
• Ensure strong security practices across daily operations.

Join our dynamic Windows Squad, a vital support team within Swift, as we seek a proactive and solution‑oriented Senior Windows System Engineer. In this unique role, you'll be part of an energetic team of 8- IT professionals responsible for overseeing Windows infrastructure. Your involvement will extend to actively contributing to the design of our IT infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on security, efficiency, and standardization. As a Senior Windows System Engineer, your primary focus will be on Enterprise Support Tools, where you'll manage various environments and technologies. Education

University degree in IT / Engineering or equivalent experience.

Experience

5 or more years of proven experience in a similar position.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform day‑to‑day system administration/management activities that may include configuration adjustment/deployment, testing of OS/VMs and additional software.
• Resolve problem management issues regarding system/operations by identifying corrective measures/improvements in accordance with the service level agreement.
• Deploy releases/updates according to the Change Management process.
• May take part in the planning and implementation of system/network projects/improvements, ensuring adherence to detailed processes and procedures and risk mitigation efforts.
• Interact with network services, software systems engineering and/or applications development in order to guarantee availability of services and/or identify root cause of problems.
• Automate administrative tasks and improve the monitoring of systems ensuring efficiency in line with customer needs and departmental policies.
• Participate in the development and maintenance of services resilience design and systems operations principles.
• Ensure the accurate level of security on the systems and during daily work.

Technical skills

• Strong IT knowledge including Windows recent Operating Systems, hardware, backup and monitoring (SCOM).
• Proven understanding of Windows Domain & system administration, Expert in Active Directory management & GPO handling/implementation.
• Familiarity with SCCM or Intune required.
• Good knowledge of Networking, DHCP, DNS and TCP/IP.
• Knowledge of virtualization (VMware administration) and PowerShell scripting is must.
• Flexible standout colleague able to work in a Partial Agile driven organization.
• Proficient in English (spoken and written), proficiency in French or Dutch is a plus.
