Job summary

SWIFT, the world’s leading provider of secure financial messaging services, is seeking a Network and System Engineer to join the CMC Infrastructure department in our Belgium-based/global team. You’ll monitor network health, diagnose issues, and assist with complex problem resolution while collaborating with multi-national teams.

You should have an HBO level in IT, experience in UNIX/Linux, and familiarity with Juniper SRX and other enterprise firewalls.

Qualifications

• HBO level in IT
• Proven experience as Network and System Engineer
• Good knowledge of UNIX/LINUX
• Experience with Juniper SRX or other firewalls is a plus
• Knowledge/experience with Fortinet, Cisco and F5/BIGIP, Elastic and Kibana, and Python scripting is a plus
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Team player in a multicultural environment and eager to learn

Responsibilities

• Perform and control day-to-day administrative activities on the network health and performance
• Diagnose and manage error logs, monitor bandwidth and link utilization
• Assist in troubleshooting complex problems and work toward permanent resolution
• Provide support to the Customer Support department during problem investigations
• Participate in reviewing problem situations and identify process improvement opportunities
• Implement configuration changes and new installations

The Department

The CMC Infrastructure department is responsible for delivering and maintaining SWIFT's operational network infrastructure against agreed targets for availability while continuously deploying new features triggered by customer, security, scalability or technological demands.

Responsibilities

• Perform and control day-to-day administrative activities that may include data collection and analyses on the network health and performance
• perform diagnostics and manage error logs, monitor and maintain bandwidth and link utilization
• Assist during the troubleshooting of more complex problems and follow through towards a permanent resolution is made
• Provide support to the Customer Support department and interact with them during problem investigation
• Participate in the review of problem situations and identify opportunities for improvement to processes, procedures or tools
• Implement configuration changes and new installations

Qualifications

• HBO level in IT
• Work experience as a Network and System Engineer is preferable
• Good knowledge of UNIX/LINUX
• Good knowledge of Juniper SRX is a big plus
• Knowledge/experience with Fortinet firewalls, Cisco and F5/BIGIP, analytics software such as Elastic and Kibana and scripting language such as Python is a preference.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Good team spirit, eager to work in a multicultural environment, willingness to learn and good analytical and problem solving skills
