Job summary

Frowein Executive Search is seeking a senior trader to take full ownership of a biogas/biomethane book and drive P&L performance across Europe. You will originate customers, structure deals, and lead cross-border opportunities in a lean, high-calibre team reporting to the VP Biogas Trading.

The role is based in the Netherlands, with responsibility for European markets and a clear path to leadership. You will mentor colleagues and shape strategic commercial initiatives.

Qualifications

• 4–5+ years in biogas/biomethane or energy trading.
• Proven P&L track record.
• Strong origination/pricing/negotiation experience.
• Knowledge of European renewable gas markets and GoOs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own and grow an assigned biogas/biomethane trading book with full P&L accountability.
• Originate new customers, suppliers, products, geographies, and partnerships across Europe.
• Develop and convert a strong pipeline of opportunities, including cross-border deals.
• Price, structure, and negotiate complex deals in renewable gas and environmental products.
• Translate market, regulatory, and competitive developments into trading opportunities and recommendations.
• Manage positions within mandates, compliance, and sustainability frameworks (GoOs).
• Mentor colleagues and lead on complex commercial initiatives.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are currently looking for a senior trader, This is a senior, entrepreneurial trading role with full ownership of an assigned biogas and biomethane portfolio — and a genuine runway to grow into broader commercial and people leadership. You will be directly accountable for P&L performance, origination, and the development of new customers, products, and partnerships across European renewable gas markets.

You will be joining a lean, high-calibre team of 4–7 professionals, reporting directly to the VP Biogas Trading.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Own and grow an assigned biogas/biomethane trading book, with full P&L accountability within agreed mandates and risk limits
• Actively originate new customers, suppliers, products, geographies, and commercial partnerships across Europe
• Develop and convert a strong pipeline of short- and long-term opportunities, including structured and cross-border transactions
• Price, structure, and negotiate complex deals across biomethane, BioLNG, and related renewable gas and environmental products
• Translate market, regulatory, and competitive developments into trading opportunities and commercial recommendations
• Manage positions within approved mandates, compliance requirements, and sustainability/certification frameworks (GoOs)
• Act as a senior member of the team — mentor colleagues, share expertise, and lead on complex commercial initiatives
• Report directly to the VP Biogas Trading on portfolio performance, pipeline, risks, and strategic opportunities

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• 4–5+ years of hands-on experience in biogas, biomethane, or energy trading, with a proven P&L track record
• Strong background in origination, pricing, structuring, and negotiation of complex transactions
• Solid knowledge of European renewable gas markets, relevant regulation, sustainability schemes, and GoOs; BioLNG experience is an advantage
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a genuine sense of ownership and a bias for action
• Credible at senior stakeholder and counterparty level; comfortable engaging at executive level
• Experience mentoring or guiding commercial colleagues
• Ambition to grow into formal commercial or people leadership responsibility
• Master's degree or equivalent in Business, Economics, Finance, Energy, Engineering, or a related field
