Job summary

Green Recruitment Company is seeking an experienced Trader to build and develop its Guarantees of Origin trading activity, with plans to expand into biomethane, carbon and related environmental markets.

This is a genuine build role offering significant autonomy to shape the trading strategy, risk framework and market approach. The successful candidate will combine proprietary and flow trading, take positions, price client transactions and develop relationships with counterparties and brokers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' proprietary or flow trading experience.
• Proven track record of generating trading P&L within defined risk parameters.
• Experience building, formalising or significantly restructuring a trading desk, strategy or risk framework.
• Strong quantitative and analytical capability, with hands-on experience building pricing, valuation or risk models.

Responsibilities

• Build and implement the trading strategy and risk framework for Guarantees of Origin.
• Trade GOs on a proprietary basis across technologies, countries and vintages.
• Develop flow trading and market-making activity with clients and counterparties.
• Identify cross-border, cross-technology and relative-value opportunities.
• Build and maintain pricing, valuation, risk and P&L models and trading tools.
• Monitor European renewable energy markets, regulation and fundamental supply/demand drivers.
• Develop relationships with brokers, counterparties and relevant market participants.
• Work with risk, finance and operations to ensure robust trade execution and settlement.
• Lead the expansion into biomethane, carbon and other environmental commodities as the desk develops.
• Support the growth of the trading team over time.

A growing environmental commodities business is looking for an experienced Trader to build and develop its Guarantees of Origin (GO) trading activity, with plans to expand into biomethane, carbon and adjacent environmental commodity markets.

This is a genuine build role, offering significant autonomy to shape the trading strategy, risk framework and market approach. The successful candidate will combine proprietary and flow trading, taking positions, pricing client transactions and developing relationships with counterparties and brokers.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and implement the trading strategy and risk framework for Guarantees of Origin.

• Trade GOs on a proprietary basis across technologies, countries and vintages.

• Develop flow trading and market-making activity with clients and counterparties.

• Identify cross-border, cross-technology and relative-value opportunities.

• Build and maintain pricing, valuation, risk and P&L models and trading tools.

• Monitor European renewable energy markets, regulation and fundamental supply/demand drivers.

• Develop relationships with brokers, counterparties and relevant market participants.

• Work with risk, finance and operations to ensure robust trade execution and settlement.

Ideal Profile

• 5+ years' proprietary or flow trading experience within commodities, energy, environmental markets or another relevant asset class.

• Proven track record of generating trading P&L within defined risk parameters.

• Experience building, formalising or significantly restructuring a trading desk, strategy or risk framework.

• Strong quantitative and analytical capability, with hands-on experience building pricing, valuation or risk models, ideally using Python, Excel/VBA or similar.

• GO or environmental commodities experience is advantageous but not essential; strong traders from other asset classes will also be considered.

• Existing broker/counterparty network is a plus.

• Fluent English required; Dutch advantageous.

• Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable taking ownership in a growing, relatively unstructured trading environment.
