Job summary

VML, part of WPP, is seeking a Senior Technical SEO Specialist in Amsterdam to strengthen our technical capabilities across large, complex websites and enterprise platforms. You will work with SEO specialists, developers and product teams, translating findings into clear technical requirements and tickets.

The role emphasizes deep technical SEO beyond standard tools, covering rendering, web architecture, migrations and multi-market SEO, with a hybrid office model and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• HTML, CSS and JavaScript; able to analyze source code for issues.
• HTTP and web architecture including requests, responses, caching, redirects, headers and CDN behaviour.
• JavaScript SEO and SSR/CSR/SSG implications on crawling, rendering and indexing.
• SSR, CSR, SSG, hydration, and dynamic rendering concepts.
• Crawling and indexing; how search engines process websites.
• Sitemaps, canonical tags, meta robots, X-Robots-Tag directives.
• Structured data and Schema.org.
• Core Web Vitals and performance.
• International websites, hreflang and multi-market architectures.
• Website migrations.
• Crawl budget and scalable architectures.

Responsibilities

• Conduct advanced technical SEO audits for large and complex websites, platforms and international domain structures.
• Analyse crawling, indexing and rendering to identify root causes of issues.
• Work with modern JavaScript frameworks and rendering architectures (SSR, CSR, SSG).
• Analyse HTML, JavaScript, HTTP requests, headers, status codes, redirects, canonicalisation and robots directives.
• Investigate and optimise crawl architecture and internal linking for sites with hundreds of thousands or millions of URLs.
• Advise on migrations, replatforming, URL structures, faceted navigation, pagination, hreflang.
• Perform log file analysis to understand crawler interaction and improve crawl efficiency.
• Develop scripts and tooling to speed up recurring analyses.
• Review technical solutions from an SEO perspective before go live.
• Collaborate with developers to translate SEO recommendations into technical tickets.
