Job summary

Rabobank in the Netherlands seeks a Senior Tech Lead for Tech4Engineering Consumer Interaction. You’ll translate complex IT challenges into actionable roadmaps and lead delivery with a people-first, risk-aware approach.

You will shape IT strategy, manage approximately 6 squads and 40 engineers, and partner with Area Lead and Business Architect to ensure secure, scalable services aligned with Rabobank's goals. Hybrid work model offered.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in senior leadership roles within complex IT environments.

• Extensive knowledge of Agile and DevOps ways of working, including work item management, portfolio management, service design, consumer success enablement, and scaling models such as Simplified@Scale.

• Co-create and implement a compelling IT vision for the Tech4Engineering tribe in close collaboration with the Consumer Interaction management triangle and other senior tech leads.
• Able to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes, demonstrate strong political sensitivity and engagement across all levels.
• Proactively manage IT risks, uphold security standards, and maintain demonstrable control within the IT framework.
• Act as stand by manager once per quarter to support business continuity and 24x7 service delivery.
• Serve as hierarchical manager for approximately 6 squads, totaling around 40 colleagues including Scrum Masters, Solution Architects, Business Analysts, and DevOps Engineers, fostering skill development and craftsmanship.
• Oversee budgets, optimize service deployment and maintenance efficiency.

• Salary: Gross monthly salary between EUR 7,556 and EUR 10,794 (scale 11)for a 36-hour work week.

Tech4Engineering Consumer Interaction

The Consumer Interaction area plays a pivotal role within this ecosystem by simplifying the end-to-end engineering journey. By bringing engineering insights to the frontier, translating them into seamless experiences, and driving adoption of standardized services, the area ensures solutions are easy to discover, use, and continuously improve. It enables engineers, squads and related roles to start strong, work efficiently, and deliver impact from day one - contributing to a more predictable, scalable, and value-driven IT organization.

You & your role

As a Senior Tech Lead within Tech4Engineering, you combine strategic and operational leadership with strong technical expertise. You work closely with stakeholders, the Area Lead, and Business Architect to set priorities, shape the roadmap, and ensure successful delivery in line with Rabobank’s strategic goals. Within the area triangle, you act as the primary IT delivery expert.

As a member of the Tech4Engineering Management Team, you contribute to shaping and further developing the IT strategy. With your broad expertise in software development, security, performance, and agile ways of working, you provide direction on key technological decisions. You understand the risk and compliance requirements of a bank and actively follow developments and trends in IT to continuously improve the services and solutions Tech4Engineering provides.

Examples for practices

• Define and execute the IT delivery strategy for the Consumer Interaction area.
• Drive operational transformation and innovation, improve the area’s service portfolio including discovery, design, marketing, team performance insight, work item management, and strategic portfolio management capabilities to boost delivery efficiency and quality.
• Advance the Simplified@Scale and DevOps maturity in the area, embedding it seamlessly into daily operations and aligning it with work item management to foster continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
• Lead the transition to empowered, high-performing teams with strong technical and soft skill capabilities by continuous upskilling, reskilling and learning.
• Create balanced onshore and offshore teams, actively manage vendors and partners, including contract negotiations, joint development efforts and on-site visits.

Qualifications

• Academic level of thinking and working, with 10+ years of experience in senior leadership roles within complex IT environments.
• Strong strategic and entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to balance business objectives, risks, and stakeholder interests while constructively challenging and influencing at all organizational levels.
• Proven experience leading and developing large teams (±40 employees), driving behavioral change, talent growth, and high-performing DevOps organizations.
• Extensive knowledge of Agile and DevOps ways of working, including work item management, portfolio management, service design, consumer success enablement, and scaling models such as Simplified@Scale.
• Strong affinity with software engineering and operations, including offshore/nearshore collaboration, combined with business-level proficiency in Dutch and English. Experience in financial services or other regulated industries is a plus.
