Job summary

The Port of Rotterdam Authority seeks a Systems Engineer to lead the structuring of an operational concept and system landscape for a cross-disciplinary development project.

You will collaborate with the project team, users, suppliers, and IT, mapping stakeholders, defining interfaces, and translating needs into a coherent system design that supports both operational and digital objectives.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer or similar role.
• Experience with development of complex information systems.
• Experience with OT environments (sensors, data gathering, storage and processing).
• Knowledge of systems engineering methodologies and their project application.
• Familiarity with ISO 12207, ISO 15288 and J-STD-016.

Responsibilities

• Inventory the existing context and relevant documentation.
• Map stakeholders, functions, processes, and information flows.
• Define system boundaries, subsystems, and interfaces.
• Establish and manage functional and technical requirements.
• Develop system architectures and models.
• Analyze data flows and data fusion processes.
• Identify design choices, risks and dependencies.
• Facilitate decision-making by outlining alternatives and consequences.
• Ensure alignment between project team, users, suppliers, and IT.
• Maintain manageable and traceable system documentation.
• Support verification and validation activities.
