Job summary

Xsens is seeking a highly curious Principal Systems Engineer to connect hardware, embedded software, and cloud platforms into a coherent product stack. You will guard technical coherence, define interfaces, and optimize system performance across domains.

The role blends hands-on engineering with strategic architecture leadership. You will lead cross-functional teams across hardware, software, and external platforms, driving early trade-off analysis and system reviews while shaping the next

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience building complex high-tech products.
• Substantial system-level or cross-domain technical leadership.
• Proven experience designing or owning complex multidisciplinary systems.
• Experience across hardware, embedded software, algorithms, networking, real-time software, robotics, edge or cloud systems.
• Strong understanding of system interfaces, performance budgets and engineering trade-offs.
• A track record of solving difficult problems across engineering boundaries and shipping real products.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve end-to-end system architecture and system behavior.
• Connect hardware, embedded software, algorithms and application software into coherent products.
• Define critical system interfaces and budgets (latency, compute, bandwidth, power, thermal, synchronization).
• Identify cross-domain dependencies and architectural trade-offs early.
• Lead system-level design reviews and drive decisions for the complete system.
• Collaborate with Software Architect and domain leads to set clear interfaces.
• Dive into multidisciplinary problems and support root-cause analysis.
• Explore future architectures for robotics, AI, edge and cloud applications.
• Turn ideas into experiments, prototypes and scalable technical solutions.
• Create technical clarity to enable teams to move independently and faster.
