Job summary

CNN is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Roku development to join the CNN Connected TV Engineering team. You will work with a high degree of autonomy, own complex technical challenges and shape the team's direction.

You will collaborate with Principal Engineers and Architects to implement the technology strategy, mentor engineers and deliver robust solutions for CNN's streaming platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience developing and releasing software products and services.
• Proficiency in client-side scripting languages such as JavaScript or Python; experience with BrightScript and SceneGraph is also essential.
• Expertise in version control with Git and GitHub, and familiarity with CI/CD pipeline technologies.
• Experience developing for streaming devices like Roku, FireTV, or similar platforms is a plus.
• Strong understanding of coding best practices, unit testing, and maintaining thorough documentation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Your New Role…

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer specialising in Roku development to join the CNN Connected TV Engineering team. As a senior individual contributor, you will work with a high level of autonomy, take ownership of complex technical challenges and help shape the team’s technical direction. You will collaborate with Principal Engineers and Architects to define and implement the technology strategy, while providing technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers. You will bring curiosity, versatility and a collaborative approach to solving new problems in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Your Role Accountabilities…

• Design, develop and maintain high-quality client-side features for CNN’s Roku streaming application.
