Job summary

Warner Bros. Discovery is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Roku development to join the CNN Connected TV Engineering team.

You will work with senior engineers to define the technology strategy, own complex challenges and guide others in a fast-paced environment. You will design client-side features for CNN’s Roku app, contribute to architecture, and ensure robust, scalable solutions while mentoring less experienced engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience developing and releasing software products and services.
• Proficient in JavaScript or Python; BrightScript and SceneGraph experience is essential.
• Expertise with Git/GitHub and familiarity with CI/CD pipeline technologies.
• Experience deploying for streaming devices like Roku; other platforms a plus.
• Strong coding practices, unit testing, and documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high-quality client-side features for CNN’s Roku streaming application.
• Contribute to technical strategy, architecture and engineering best practices for CNN’s Connected TV experiences.
• Build scalable and reliable solutions to support the streaming platform’s success.
• Guide decisions on development tools, technologies, test automation and CI/CD practices.
• Write clear technical documentation, conduct code reviews and troubleshoot issues.
• Support testing, deployment and release of production-quality Roku apps.
• Partner with Product, Design and Delivery to translate initiatives into robust solutions.
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
