Job summary

Flow Traders is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own key post-trade domains, building scalable backend services and data pipelines. You will work across Trading, Operations, Risk, and Data teams to implement robust, automated solutions that deliver real business impact.

You should have 5+ years building distributed systems, with Java or C++, exposure to Python, and strong SQL/data modelling skills. Familiarity with Kafka and modern data tooling is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Experience with Java or C++, exposure to Python.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, data structures, algorithms, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with Kafka and data-intensive ETL pipelines.

Senior Software Engineer - Post-Trade Platform

Flow Traders is building the next generation of its post-trade platform, covering trade capture, reconciliation, settlement, booking, reporting, and operational workflows across Equities, ETFs, Fixed Income, and Crypto.We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to take end-to-end ownership of key post-trade domains, helping shape the platform architecture while building reliable, automated, and data-driven services.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, thinking in systems, and building high-quality platforms that deliver real business impact.

What you will do

• Own and develop critical post-trade domains such as reconciliation, settlement, booking, and reporting
• Work closely with Trading, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Data teams to understand workflows and requirements
• Design and build scalable backend services and data pipelines
• Improve automation, data quality, resilience, and operational efficiency
• Contribute to the target architecture and technical roadmap of the post-trade platform
• Ensure observability, reliability, and data correctness across systems

What you need to succeed

• 5+ years of experience building distributed backend systems using Java or C++, with exposure to Python
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, data structures, algorithms, and event-driven architectures
• Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka
• Hands-on experience building data-intensive systems, ETL pipelines, and analytical data solutions
• Strong SQL and data modelling skills
• Proven ability to own complex technical domains from design through production support
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

Nice to have

• Experience with post-trade workflows, including reconciliation, settlement, booking, or regulatory reporting
• Background in financial services, proprietary trading, or market making
• Experience with GCP, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Airflow, Spark, Flink, or similar technologies
• Knowledge of observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry
