Flexport in Amsterdam is seeking a seasoned software engineer to help build and evolve our Customs Technology platform. You will collaborate with business partners, product managers, designers and engineers to translate complex logistics problems into scalable, reliable code.

We value Ruby expertise, a track record of shipping quickly, and a willingness to learn new stacks as we move toward React/Typescript and Kotlin microservices.

Qualifications

• ≥ 5 years of experience writing software and a strong engineering background.
• Ability to convey technical ideas to partners, PMs, designers and engineers.
• Bias for action and problem solving mindset.
• Platform built with Ruby; openness to diverse tech stacks, but current emphasis is Ruby-based.

Responsibilities

• Distill complex business problems into elegant technical solutions with partners and product managers.
• Work on systems representing real-world logistics intricacies and cargo flow across borders.
• Build and launch products rapidly, shipping to production dozens of times per day.
• Design and build deep integrations with government agencies and partners.
• Automate processes to save time and reduce manual work for the operations team.
• Deliver insights via a world-class analytics experience.
