Senior Software Engineer – Compliance Tech in Renewable Fuels

Location: Rotterdam,Netherlands (Hybrid)

We’re now looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us scale our product and engineering capacity. This is a hands-on, high-impact role — ideal for someone who thrives in early-stage environments and believes in building systems that are elegant, simple, and durable.

Your Role

As a Senior Engineer at FuelFWD, you will be a critical contributor to both the day-to-day development and the strategic evolution of our platform. You'll collaborate closely with our co-founders and engineering peers to:

Build and Improve

• Design and implement new features that make regulatory workflows intuitive and scalable.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and fix issues across the stack — from frontend UX to backend performance.
• Regularly review code with peers, contribute to setting high-quality standards, and evolve our architecture.

Own and Operate

• Help shape and maintain our cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines.
• Monitor and improve performance, reliability, and developer ergonomics.
• Co-own our devops practices and help scale them with the team.

Contribute Strategically

• Identify opportunities to simplify or rethink how we solve core compliance challenges.
• Bring a systems mindset and a product eye — not just executing tickets, but making the platform better by design.
• Actively propose and lead technical initiatives to keep our tech stack modern, clean, and resilient.

What We’re Looking For

Must-haves:

• 5+ years of experience building and shipping web applications.
• Proven ability to work across a modern tech stack (frontend, backend, infra).
• Strong track record of collaboration in small, agile teams.

Nice-to-haves:

• Experience leading teams or mentoring peers.
• Background in compliance or regulatory-heavy products.
• DevOps skills — from CI/CD to infrastructure-as-code.
• Contributions to open source or authorship of technical content.
• Entrepreneurial mindset — you’re biased to build, test, and iterate.
