Job summary

JBT Marel is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to lead design and implementation of software modules supporting our vision in food processing. You will collaborate with machine engineering and software platform teams to deliver robust, scalable solutions for industrial equipment.

In a Scrum environment, you will mentor junior engineers, drive architecture decisions, and contribute to product releases on customer sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Proficient in .NET and Docker.
• Experience with Azure DevOps and Git.
• Strong SQL knowledge and database operations.
• Fluent English communication, willingness to travel occasionally.

We’re Hiring: Senior Full Stack Software Engineer. Location: JBT Marel Lichtenvoorde. Employment Type: Full-Time, Hybrid (3-4 days a week at the office). Department: MEAT – Primary EMEA.

About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead the design and implementation of software modules that support JBT-Marel’s vision. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams, including machine engineering and software platform development teams, to deliver robust and scalable solutions for industrial food processing machines.

What You’ll Do

• Lead design, implementation, and testing of innovative software modules and features.
• Optimize existing software solutions and design next gen software solutions for the food processing industry.
• Analyze requirements and write design specifications for software modules and software features.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team collaboration.
• Collaborate with multiple internal teams to ensure system architecture is implemented and tested.
• Occasionally support product releases and training on customer sites.
• Train and mentor Software Engineers and Associate Software Engineers.
• Contribute to team collaboration and build team spirit.
• Work in an Agile Scrum environment focused on collaboration, speed, and customer value.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s or Master‘s degree in computer science or similar, or comparable work experience and knowledge.
• Experience with .NET and Docker.
• Experience with Azure DevOps and Git.
• Experience in designing, developing, and implementing large software solutions with object‑oriented programming languages, in combination with .NET software development.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and good understanding of database operations.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of co‑workers, stakeholders, and customers.
• Fluent in English (written and verbal).
• Willingness to travel occasionally.

Nice to Have

• Background in industrial automation or machine control.
• Understanding of reliability requirements in the food industry.
• Experience with and comfort working in multi‑cultural, multi‑discipline organization is an advantage.
• Familiar with Agile software development frameworks and database operations.
• Basic knowledge of Linux and familiarity with PLCs.
