Job summary

Nebius B.V. in Amsterdam is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and operate the indexing and data processing layer of a novel AI-oriented search engine.

You will design systems that ingest, process, and organize massive datasets into fast, queryable structures, focusing on offline and nearline pipelines with tens of gigabytes per second throughput. You will collaborate with runtime and ML teams to ensure reliability, observability, and cost-efficient operation, while shipping well-tested

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production backend or data infrastructure experience.
• Strong Go experience.
• Experience with large-scale data processing systems (10+ GiB/sec throughput, petabyte-scale datasets)

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to work on the indexing and data processing layer of a novel search engine tailored for agentic AI consumption. In this role you will focus on building systems that ingest, process, and organise massive volumes of data into efficient, queryable structures. You will work primarily on offline and nearline pipelines, ensuring that data is fresh, complete, and efficiently accessible by downstream retrieval systems. You will operate in an environment where throughput, scalability, and correctness are critical; designing systems capable of handling tens of gigabytes per second across continuously evolving datasets. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and operating large-scale indexing systems and data pipelines; developing and optimising indexing strategies; working on storage formats, compaction strategies, and update mechanisms; ensuring pilot pipelines reliability; building well-tested components with clear interfaces; defining observability primitives; monitoring throughput and cost; collaborating with runtime and ML teams; enabling safe experimentation with controlled rollouts. You may be a good fit if you have 5+ years of production backend or data infrastructure experience, strong Go experience, and experience with large-scale data processing systems.
