Senior Software Architect at Utilus – Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands

Utilus is a fast-growing software delivery company focused on delivering high-quality software solutions and transforming essential IT for clients. We design, build, manage, and operate scalable software projects and support the energy transition through our client work.

About The Job

We are currently seeking a Senior Software Architect to join our rapidly growing team. The Senior Software Architect works on external projects with the goal to deliver high quality technical solutions that meet the client’s needs and business vision. The Senior Software Architect designs high-level architecture and defines architectural patterns and development standards for the development team to follow and performs a quality assurance role on development.

Key Responsibilities

• Problem Solving: Address technical challenges and provide innovative solutions to complex problems
• System Design: Develop blueprints for solutions, including workflow diagrams, system architectures, and mockups, ensuring they fulfill user needs and are technically feasible
• Collaboration with Teams: Work with developers, QA teams, and project managers to ensure solutions are implemented accurately and on time
• Planning & Organization: Plan, track, and schedule software deliverables
• Software Quality Control: Oversee software testing, verification and validation
• Gathering and Analyzing Requirements: Work with external stakeholders to translate business goals into actionable designs and solutions
• Create, design and own solutions: Understand business problems, design solutions, and realize them with the team

What We Are Looking For

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in IT (or related) field
• 8+ years of relevant experience in software development and coding (.NET or Java) including a proven track record as an Architect
• Excellent knowledge of software and application design and architecture
• Expert in at least one major technology stack, able to work across multiple stacks (e.g., Java SpringBoot on AWS, Python on Azure, Databricks) and eager to learn new technologies
• Enthusiasm for technology and staying current with trends
• Ability to translate client needs and business vision into technical solutions
• Excellent stakeholder management and ability to work with clients to align on requirements
• Excellent communication skills; able to convey architectural designs and technical solutions to clients and teams
• Hands-on mentality and comfort in a fast-paced environment
• Pro-active and results-driven
• English communication proficiency (Dutch is a plus)
