Role Overview
As a Project Manager you will lead the execution of turn‑key EPC/core‑only projects with the objective of delivering the projects on‑time, on‑budget, and without incidents or accidents.
This position reports to the Head of Projects, UK & Ireland and requires an autonomous, pragmatic individual with experience working in a matrixed and virtual environment, managing multiple projects and stakeholders, and functioning as part of a global team.
Familiarity with typical codes and standards for electrical equipment and experience with turn‑key energy infrastructure project construction is required. Experience within Energy Storage markets is an advantage, but not mandatory. An agile mindset and comfort working in a fast‑paced start‑up technology environment is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- P&L responsibility for projects up to $30M+ in value.
- Lead turn‑key EPC battery energy storage projects through delivery, from contract execution to successful handover to operations.
- Collaborate closely with finance, engineering, procurement and other functional groups.
- Ensure all projects are delivered safely, to code, on time, on budget, and to customer satisfaction.
- Operate under an internal quality programme certified to ISO9001 with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Lead teams in reviewing engineering designs, managing project schedules, budgets, resource allocation and safety/quality plans.
- Resolve technical issues rapidly to meet quality, time and cost targets.
- Coordinate with other functions to close snags, quality issues and non‑conformances.
- Manage relationships with EPC contractors, equipment delivery partners and other stakeholders through the Project Delivery phase.
- Oversee contractors and subcontractors to ensure quality and schedule compliance and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with customers, suppliers, partners, sales and senior management to ensure contract requirements are met.
- Evaluate construction methods for cost‑effectiveness and optimize value‑engineering opportunities.
- Participate in business improvement projects, documenting and communicating project plans and changes.
- Support contract negotiations with potential contractors and suppliers.
- Work with the project finance team on budget review, revenue and cash‑flow forecasts, proposing mitigation to contain cost growth when appropriate.
- Represent Fluence in person and through written material to executives, regulatory officials and supply‑chain partners.
- Promote Fluence values of Leading, Agile, Responsible and Fun throughout the organization.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in engineering, physics or another technical discipline.
- Combined 5 years of experience in project management, construction management or engineering within the power generation market.
- Minimum 3 years of P&L responsibility delivering equipment supply or turn‑key projects.
- Over one-year experience managing subcontractor contracts.
- Experience managing a matrix project organization comprised of 6+ functions.
- Valid Senior Project Management certification (e.g. PMI PgMP, IPMA LevelB).
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas clearly and effectively to internal and external audiences.
- Knowledge of DS3 Services, EirGrid Grid Code and Single Electricity Market (SEM) is a plus.
- Business‑level English language skills.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.
- Experience delivering a project to a Utility customer in Ireland is a plus.
