Job summary

Star in Rotterdam is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead and coordinate technical and administrative activities across complex oil & gas projects. You will ensure objectives are delivered safely, on schedule and within budget, while guiding multidisciplinary teams.

You will develop plans, manage budgets, perform risk assessments, review documentation, and act as a primary client and contractor contact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent
• 10+ years of experience in project engineering within oil & gas
• Experience in project management, project engineering, package management; core engineering background not a fit
• Proven experience with process and rotating equipment packages in complex oil & gas projects
• Strong experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering, procurement and construction activities
• Strong leadership, decision-making and problem-solving skills
• Understanding of project management principles: planning, cost and budget control, risk management and contractual change management
• Commercial and business acumen with experience managing relationships with clients, contractors and third parties
• Experience with subcontracting and negotiations
• Proficiency in project management software and tools
• Strong analytical and technical skills; focus on accuracy and quality
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary and international project environments

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the technical and administrative activities within complex projects, ensuring project objectives are delivered safely, efficiently, within budget and according to schedule.
• Develop and manage project plans, schedules and budgets, ensuring alignment with project objectives and stakeholder expectations.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary activities between engineering, procurement and construction teams, ensuring that all technical and project requirements are properly addressed.
• Conduct and oversee technical evaluations, risk assessments and feasibility studies to support project decision-making.
• Monitor project progress, proactively identify risks and implement corrective actions to ensure key milestones are achieved.
• Lead the review of technical documentation, ensuring compliance with applicable industry standards, safety regulations and project requirements.
• Act as a key point of contact for clients, contractors and other external stakeholders throughout the different project phases.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to the project engineering team and mentor junior project engineers, supporting their professional development and promoting continuous improvement and technical excellence.
• Support effective management of contractual changes, costs, budgets, risks, planning and third-party relationships, including subcontracting and negotiations.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in project engineering within the oil & gas industry.
• Existing experience in project management, project engineering,package management required. Core engineeringbackground will not be a fit.
• Proven experience with process and rotating equipment packages, preferably within complex oil & gas projects.
• Strong experience in coordinating multidisciplinary engineering, procurement and construction activities.
