As a Senior Project Engineer, you act as the driving force behind medium to high-complexity capital investment projects at 40 hours per week at the Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine site in Leiden. In this versatile position, you effortlessly bridge technical engineering disciplines with overarching project management. You maintain control, guarantee quality within a strict GxP environment, and ensure alignment across all involved stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering Ownership: Act as a Core Team Member on medium-to-high complexity projects, representing all engineering disciplines and coordinating the full engineering scope.
- Technical Support & Design Review: Translate project scopes into Request for Quotation (RFQ) packages. Review and approve engineering drawings and calculations to ensure alignment with Dutch, European, and Janssen Biologics standards.
- Stakeholder & Contractor Management: Manage progress and quality with external engineering firms, on-site contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Compliance & Change Control: Execute applicable GxP requirements (e.g., Change Control) and participate in Management of Change (MoC) processes.
- End-to-End Project Management: Manage medium-complexity capital investment projects according to the Engineering Process from feasibility through to closure.
- Scope, Budget & Timeline: Support project sponsors in defining business needs and solutions. Define and manage final project objectives, scope, budget, and timelines.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Build and lead cross-functional project teams (both internal and external to engineering) to achieve project deliverables.
- Communication & Portfolio Management: Communicate effectively with sponsors and stakeholders on progress via in-person updates and portfolio management systems. Manage client expectations regarding safety, quality, reliability, time, and budget.
Functie-eisen
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Bioprocess Engineering) with 5-7 years of relevant work experience.
- Project Management: Completed FPX Project Lead Training (or an equivalent formal project management training).
- Safety & Standards: Possession of a VCA-VOL qualification/diploma.
- Solid familiarity with GxP / GMP requirements and Change Control procedures.

- A contract for a year of 32 or 40 hours per week
- A monthly project allowance 4% of your salary
