Job summary

Vantage Consulting Limited is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to take technical ownership of emergency power projects for data centres in the Netherlands. The role foresees collaboration with a Project Manager, handling technical delivery from handover to commissioning.

The candidate will have an HBO-level electrical/mechanical engineering degree, 8+ years in technical project settings, and a strong electrical background with discipline coordination.

Qualifications

• HBO-level qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering.
• 8+ years' experience in a technical project organisation, ideally in electrical or energy technology.
• Strong electrical background with ability to review drawings across disciplines.
• Experience with emergency or critical power systems (generators, UPS, LV distribution).
• Confident reading and assessing technical drawings and schematics.
• Well organised, able to manage several workstreams and interfaces.
• Fluent English; Dutch is a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

• Translate the sales file into a plan of approach, work instructions and test plans.
• Own the technical scope of emergency power installations, including generators, UPS and distribution.
• Specify emergency power requirements and ensure designs meet client and project specifications.
• Review electrical schematics, single line diagrams and mechanical drawings.
• Forecast and plan technical resources across projects.
• Coordinate interfaces between procurement, engineering and commissioning for clean handovers.
• Support procurement with technical specifications and supplier document reviews.
• Oversee testing and commissioning preparation and resolve technical issues.
• Ensure handover documentation is complete with test records, data books and O&M information.
• Act as the technical contact for the Project Manager, suppliers and site teams.

Senior Project Engineer - Emergency Power (Data Centres)

We're recruiting a Senior Project Engineer to take technical ownership of emergency power projects for data centre clients in the Netherlands. You'll work in tandem with a Project Manager: they handle planning, finance and the client relationship, and you're responsible for technical delivery from handover of the sales file through to commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Translate the sales file into a plan of approach, work instructions and test plans
• Own the technical scope of emergency power installations, including generators, UPS and associated distribution
• Specify emergency power requirements and make sure designs meet client and project specifications
• Review and approve electrical schematics, single line diagrams and mechanical drawings
• Forecast and plan technical resources across your projects
• Coordinate the interfaces between procurement, engineering and commissioning so that each project phase hands over cleanly
• Support procurement with technical specifications and supplier document reviews
• Oversee testing and commissioning preparation, and resolve technical issues as they arise
• Make sure handover documentation is complete, including test records, data books and O&M information
• Act as the technical point of contact for the Project Manager, suppliers and site teams

Requirements

• HBO-level qualification (bachelor's) in electrical or mechanical engineering
• 8+ years' experience in a technical project organisation, ideally in electrical or energy technology
• A strong electrical background, with enough mechanical awareness to review drawings and coordinate across disciplines
• Experience with emergency or critical power systems (generators, UPS, LV distribution) is highly desirable
• Confident reading and assessing technical drawings and schematics
• Well organised, able to manage several workstreams and interfaces at once
• Fluent English; Dutch is a strong advantage

The role

• Contract position with an ASAP start
• Mainly remote, with regular site attendance in the Netherlands
• Long-term project pipeline in the data centre sector
