Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Senior Project Controller to lead the financial aspects of large, complex projects within an international setting. You will partner with Project Managers and key stakeholders from tender handover to project completion to drive performance and provide clear financial governance.

You will transform financial data into actionable insights, proactively manage risks and opportunities, and ensure strong financial governance across project lifecycles.

Qualifications

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
• Significant experience in project controlling, project finance, or financial management of complex projects.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, forecasting, cash flow management, and project accounting.
• Understand project risk management, contract management, and project governance principles.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels and cultures.
• Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Act as financial lead for complex projects, driving performance, profitability, and execution excellence.
• Manage financial reporting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, cost control, and project performance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Identify and manage risks and opportunities, ensuring proactive actions to protect margin and project outcomes.
• Support tender handovers and ensure lessons learned are captured and applied during project execution.
• Ensure IFRS compliance, internal controls, governance requirements, and audit standards.
• Support contract, scope, and change management activities to drive revenue growth and margin improvement.
• Monitor project schedules, resource plans, and critical dependencies to improve project performance.
• Coach project teams and finance colleagues while promoting continuous improvement and best practices.

As a Senior Project Controller, you act as the financial leader of the project, providing the financial clarity, governance, and insights needed to drive performance and informed decision-making.

As a Senior Project Controller, you act as the financial leader of the project, providing the financial clarity, governance, and insights needed to drive performance and informed decision-making.

You will partner closely with Project Managers and key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, from tender handover to project completion. You will transform financial data into actionable insights, proactively manage risks and opportunities, and ensure strong financial governance. Your projects will typically range from USD 50 million to 200 million and involve multiple stakeholders, business functions, and execution units.

This role is ideal for an experienced finance professional who enjoys combining strategic thinking, project execution, and business partnering in a dynamic international environment.

Your background

• You understand project risk management, contract management, and project governance principles.
• You communicate effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels and across different cultures.
• You are fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
