Job summary

SMART Photonics is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to own plasma process development, qualification and optimization for our photonic components. You will ensure production-ready processes that are stable, scalable, and capable, while driving yield, capacity, quality and cost improvements.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong data-driven problem solving, and collaboration across Process Engineering, Equipment, Operations, and R&D to bring new concepts to reliable production.”

Qualifications

• MSc in a relevant technical field; PhD may be considered for strong candidates.
• 7+ years of industrial experience in semiconductor processing with plasma etching focus.
• Experience with dry etching, III-V or InP processing is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Own the development, qualification, optimization, and continuous improvement of plasma processes for advanced photonic components.
• Ensure processes are stable, capable, scalable and production-ready while improving yield, capacity, quality and cost.
• Lead projects from optimization and defect reduction to tool qualification, release, and introduction of new processes/equipment.
• Apply structured, data-driven methods (DOE, SPC, FMEA, statistical analysis, root-cause analysis) to improve process performance.
• Collaborate across Process Engineering, Equipment, Operations, and R&D to translate challenges into manufacturing solutions.
