Job summary

SBM Offshore N.V. is seeking a Senior Planning Engineer in Rotterdam to develop and optimize project schedules across design, procurement and construction.

You will coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to align timelines, resources and milestones, and you will monitor progress, mitigate risks, and deliver regular schedule performance reports. The role requires 5+ years in project planning within oil & gas, a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, and proficiency with Primavera P6

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in project planning within oil & gas.
• Proficiency with Primavera P6 preferred; MS Project also used.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize detailed project schedules.
• Coordinate with engineers, procurement, and construction for data and milestones.
• Monitor progress, identify delays, and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare regular progress reports including EV, schedule updates, and metrics.
• Provide forecasts and lead planning meetings to align stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
• Mentor junior Planning Engineers and support their development.

Purpose

• As Senior Planning Engineer, you are responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing project schedules to ensure timely and efficient project execution. This involves collaboration with various departments, including engineering, procurement, and construction, to align project timelines and resources.

Responsibilities

• You develop and oversee detailed project schedules using project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
• You coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary project data and milestones.
• You monitor and oversee project progress, identify potential delays, and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
• You prepare and oversee regular progress reports, including schedule updates, earned value analysis, and performance metrics.
• You analyze project trends and provide forecasts to support decision‑making.
• You lead planning meetings and workshops to ensure stakeholder alignment.
• You ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
• You mentor more junior Planning Engineers and support their development.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.

Experience

• · 5+ years experience in project planning within the oil and gas sector.
• · Proficiency in project management software (Primavera P6 preferred).
• · Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
