Job summary

SBM Offshore is seeking a Senior Planning Engineer in the Rotterdam area to develop and optimize project schedules across engineering, procurement, and construction teams. The role requires delivering timely plans, tracking progress, and advising on schedule risks to support successful project execution.

The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree inEngineering or related field and 5+ years of planning experience in oil and gas, with strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management, or related field.
• 5+ years experience in project planning in oil and gas.
• Primavera P6 is preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of PM methodologies and best practices.
• Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
• Detail-oriented with focus on accuracy and efficiency.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee detailed project schedules using Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar tool.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers and stakeholders to gather data and milestones.
• Monitor progress, identify delays, and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
• Prepare and oversee progress reports, earned value, and performance metrics.
• Analyze project trends and provide forecasts to support decision-making.
• Lead planning meetings and workshops for stakeholder alignment.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
• Mentor junior Planning Engineers.

Purpose

• As Senior Planning Engineer, you are responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing project schedules to ensure timely and efficient project execution. This involves collaboration with various departments, including engineering, procurement, and construction, to align project timelines and resources.

Responsibilities

• You develop and oversee detailed project schedules using project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
• You coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary project data and milestones.
• You monitor and oversee project progress, identify potential delays, and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
• You prepare and oversee regular progress reports, including schedule updates, earned value analysis, and performance metrics.
• You analyze project trends and provide forecasts to support decision‑making.
• You lead planning meetings and workshops to ensure stakeholder alignment.
• You ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
• You mentor more junior Planning Engineers and support their development

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.

Experience

• 5+ years experience in project planning within the oil and gas sector.
• Proficiency in project management software (Primavera P6 preferred).
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices.
• Effective time management and organizational abilities.
• Detail‑oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
