Job summary

TicketSwap is seeking a Senior Software Engineer Backend (PHP) in Amsterdam to join our Engineering team. You’ll own backend services, build features used by millions of fans, and collaborate with product, design, and frontend teams to scale a secure marketplace.

You’ll work with PHP, Symfony, MySQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, GraphQL, AWS, and Kubernetes, and contribute to our event-driven architecture while maintaining high standards of code quality and testing.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer.
• Strong experience with PHP and relational databases like MySQL.
• Experience with Symfony is a strong plus.
• Comfortable with Git and modern development workflows.
• You care about code quality, testing, and maintainability.
• You enjoy solving real user problems through technology.
• You’re curious, proactive, and open to learning new things.
• You enjoy collaborating in cross-functional teams.
• Experience with React, AWS, Kubernetes, or DevOps tooling is a bonus.
• You’re based in the Netherlands, have an EU passport, or already hold a valid visa to work here.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve backend services and APIs that power our platform.
• Develop new product features used by millions of fans across web and mobile.
• Help scale and maintain a reliable, secure, and high-performing marketplace.
• Work with PHP, Symfony, MySQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, GraphQL, AWS, and Kubernetes.
• Contribute to our event-driven architecture and asynchronous systems.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers across disciplines.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving engineering standards.
• Help improve developer experience, tooling, and platform reliability.
• Contribute ideas that simplify complex technical or product challenges.
• Continuously learn, experiment, and share knowledge with the team.
