Job summary

SMART Photonics in Eindhoven is seeking a Senior R&D Engineer to advance photonic integration in the IPA group. You will work with scientists, engineers and cleanroom technicians to optimize fabrication processes and device performance.

Qualifications

PhD in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field; master's degree accepted if other requirements are met.
2+ years of semiconductor manufacturing experience in III-V/Si and hands-on integrated photonics.
Hands-on industrial experience in integrated photonics (III-V or silicon) and integration techniques.
Excellent analytical (statistical) problem-solving skills and 8D problem solving.
Flexibility to work in a scaleup environment; team player with proactive attitude.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and improve the definition of process strategy, process architecture, process structure and testability requirements.
Assess changes and their impact on integration.
Create modular, maintainable, extendable architecture parts.
Lead and participate in several technically complex projects.
Be involved in developing new building blocks and designs.
Conduct Design of Experiments (DoE) to qualify new devices or processes.
Involved in test verification and validation of the product.
Align customer needs and expectations with deliverables.
Act as technical expert and share knowledge via documentation and training.
Drive cross-functional initiatives to improve yields and solve process problems.
