Job summary

Equinix is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer for OT Fleet Management to advance security, reliability and lifecycle health of data-center OT systems across the region.

This role combines deep industrial controls expertise with OT networks, servers, virtualization, databases and cybersecurity, driving remediation, coordination with vendors, and coaching regional engineers to reduce external dependencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in controls engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, automation, or related technical discipline.
• Proven experience in industrial controls, automation, BMS/SCADA, or OT engineering in operational or mission-critical environments.
• Experience with two major industrial controls platforms (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens, ABB, Ignition, AVEVA System Platform, or Schneider Electric).
• Strong knowledge of PLCs, BMS/SCADA applications, HMIs, historians, gateways, and controls networks.
• Advanced OT infrastructure knowledge: Windows Server, SQL Server, TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls, routing, switching, virtualization, backup/recovery, IAM, remote support.
• Experience assessing and remediating vulnerabilities or lifecycle risks in OT environments.
• Experience directing vendors/contractors through multi-site remediation or modernization.
• Ability to define technical scopes, implementation plans, test procedures, acceptance criteria, risk assessments, and executive updates.
• Ability to train, mentor, and influence engineers and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication, sound judgment in live environments, ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Willingness to travel regionally and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Own regional execution of the TVM program from assessment to remediation, validation, evidence capture and closure.
• Assess vulnerabilities, obsolete components, unsupported OS, database dependencies, network exposures and lifecycle risks.
• Develop remediation strategies balancing cybersecurity, continuity, supportability and change risk.
• Maintain remediation roadmaps, risk registers, dependencies, decisions, and status reporting.
• Support platform modernization, patching, upgrades, migrations, rollout and rollback planning.
• Provide advanced technical support for industrial controls and supervisory platforms.
• Troubleshoot end-to-end controls issues across field devices, controllers, I/O, networks, and databases.
• Review architectures, sequences, P&IDs, electrical one-lines, network diagrams, and system documentation.
• Apply OT security principles (least privilege, secure remote access, asset inventory, config management, patch governance).
• Coordinate with IT/cybersecurity and operations to resolve cross-domain dependencies while preserving ownership boundaries.
• Lead technical validation after remediation including rollback or recovery capability.
