Job summary

Samba is seeking a Senior Ontologist for its Knowledge Graph & Identity team in Amsterdam. You will own the design, development, and governance of semantic data models and ontologies at scale.

You will work hands-on to write ontologies, SHACL shapes, and pipelines in Python and SPARQL, collaborating with data engineers and data scientists to productionize models.

The role emphasizes ML/AI integration, entity resolution, and standards with Schema.org, EIDR, and W3C terms.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of hands-on ontology engineering or knowledge graph work.
• Deep expertise in RDF, RDFS, OWL, SPARQL 1.1, SHACL.
• Strong Python production-quality coding for data pipelines.
• Experience with entity resolution at scale.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IS; Master’s/PhD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end ontology design and governance for Samba's core ontologies.
• Author SHACL shapes for graph validation and quality enforcement.
• Define derived-attribute schemas and document their logic.
• Lead ontology reviews with product, data engineering, and data science stakeholders.
• Build production KG pipelines in Python and SPARQL.
