Job summary

WLG, a multinational defence contractor, seeks a senior network engineer in Brunssum to design, deploy and test complex networks in fixed sites and field camps. You will implement, document and validate configurations, with emphasis on secure, reliable operation in mission-critical environments.

The role focuses on designing networks from diagrams to deployed systems, ensuring robust performance and security across both stationary and expeditionary deployments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing, building, running and troubleshooting enterprise networks.
• Experience with deployable/field networks and expeditionary setups.
• Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, VLANs, VPN and QoS.

Responsibilities

Networks that have to work in a data centre and in a field camp. Both are yours. A multinational defence organisation in Brunssum is delivering new communication and information systems and needs a senior network engineer to take them from design to a tested, documented deployment, on fixed sites and in deployable kit.

What You Would Be Doing

• Producing technical network designs and turning them into working installations
• Installing, configuring and integrating network components, then running testing and acceptance
• Supporting deployment, migration and modernisation of mission-critical networks
• Writing network documentation, diagrams, implementation plans and configuration baselines
• Fault isolation, root cause analysis and performance tuning in complex environments
• Reporting regularly on progress, risks and next steps

What you would bring

• A degree in computing, networking or engineering, or equivalent experience
• 5 years designing, building, running and troubleshooting enterprise and deployable networks
• Advanced TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, Layer 2 and 3, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, VLANs, QoS and VPN
• Deployable and expeditionary communications: setting up, running and recovering networks in the field
• Network security: firewalls, IDS/IPS, NAC and secure remote access
• Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto or Fortinet hands-on, with CCNP Enterprise and JNCIP-Enterprise
