Job description

Help us build the future of autonomous charging

At Rocsys, we are accelerating the transition to sustainable mobility by making electric vehicle charging easier, smarter, and more scalable. We develop autonomous charging robots that enable electric vehicles to connect and charge without human intervention.

By combining mechanical engineering, soft robotics, computer vision, and intelligent software, we create reliable robotic solutions that help fleets electrify faster and operate more efficiently.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and developing the next generation of Rocsys products. You will turn innovative concepts into reliable, production‑ready hardware and contribute directly to the technology that is shaping the future of electric mobility.

You will work on complex mechanical challenges, from early concepts and prototypes to scalable products. With a high level of ownership and close collaboration across disciplines, you will influence the design decisions that define the reliability, performance, and future growth of our autonomous charging technology.

Who we are

Rocsys is an international team of engineers, developers, and business professionals building the future of autonomous charging.

Our headquarters are located in the Netherlands, with a team in Portland (US). We combine the ambition and innovation of a scale‑up with the challenge of solving complex technical problems that have real‑world impact.

We believe great products are built by great teams. We collaborate openly, learn continuously, and bring different perspectives together to create reliable solutions.

Your impact as Senior Mechanical Engineer

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will own the mechanical development of key components and systems within our autonomous charging solutions. From early concepts and prototypes to production‑ready designs, you ensure our products are robust, reliable, manufacturable, and scalable.

You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain. Together, you will solve complex engineering challenges and continuously improve our products.

Your expertise will directly contribute to building charging technology that enables the transition towards more sustainable transportation.

In this role, you will
Design and develop innovative hardware
  • Own the design, development, and optimization of mechanical systems and components for Rocsys products.
  • Translate concepts into detailed designs, prototypes, and production‑ready solutions.
  • Develop robust mechanical solutions, including mechatronic components such as actuators and sensors.
  • Support prototype builds, testing, validation, and continuous improvement based on test results.
Improve reliability and scalability
  • Drive improvements in product reliability, performance, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to create scalable solutions.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain teams to ensure designs can be produced efficiently.
Collaborate and contribute to engineering excellence
  • Work closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure smooth integration between mechanical, electrical, and software components.
  • Coordinate with external engineering partners when additional expertise or capacity is needed.
  • Contribute to improving engineering processes, technical standards, and ways of working within Rocsys.
