The Job

We are seeking an accomplished Marine Cargo Underwriter - ideally a senior, well-known professional in Germany or elsewhere in the EU - who brings trusted relationships with brokers and a strong track record of generating profitable business. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing underwriting platform with the flexibility to shape your own portfolio and influence the company’s strategic presence in the European marine cargo market.

Responsibilities
  • Negotiate coverage levels, pricing, and terms with brokers in line with company guidelines and compliance
  • Assess and underwrite marine cargo risks, setting appropriate terms and conditions
  • Manage policy renewals, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and client satisfaction
  • Build and maintain relationships with brokers, clients, and other stakeholders to promote retention and business growth
  • Collaborate with Risk Management and Compliance teams to ensure proper articulation of new business
  • Attend meetings with brokers, reinsurers, and other stakeholders to represent the company’s interests and respond to European market opportunities
  • Represent the company at industry events and conferences
About You
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field
  • 4-6+ years of experience in marine cargo underwriting
  • Strong broker relationships and reputation in the EU market, with proven ability to bring business
  • Demonstrated success in business development and portfolio growth
  • Solid technical underwriting knowledge, including risk evaluation and policy wordings
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Fluent in English; German or other European language(s) advantageous
  • Willingness to travel within Europe and occasionally to the US
