Job summary

Michael Page is seeking an experienced finance and operations leader for an internationally active NGO based in the Netherlands. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on financial management across multiple jurisdictions.

You will head budgeting, reporting, IT and process improvements, manage a multidisciplinary team, and partner with executive leadership to drive governance, compliance, and sustainable impact in a global context.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Management, or related discipline.
• Significant experience in a senior finance and operations leadership role.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and internal controls expertise.
• Experience with governance, compliance, risk management, and organisational development.
• Proven track record of process improvements and operational efficiencies.

Job Description

Finance & Control

• Lead the annual planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
• Develop and maintain robust financial control and reporting frameworks.
• Monitor organisational and project budgets, providing insights and recommendations to management.
• Analyse budget-to-actual variances and identify financial risks and opportunities.
• Oversee audits, statutory reporting, and compliance activities.
• Support programme and project leaders with financial management and grant administration.
• Ensure compliance with donor requirements and contractual obligations.
• Advise management on financial, tax, and governance-related matters across multiple jurisdictions.

IT & Process Management

• Oversee IT systems, infrastructure, cybersecurity, privacy, and data protection compliance.
• Drive digital transformation and process optimisation initiatives.
• Improve operational efficiency through policy development and process standardisation.
• Monitor service quality and support continuous improvement across internal functions.
• Manage external suppliers and strategic service providers.

Leadership & Management

• Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary operations team.
• Translate organisational goals into departmental strategies and measurable objectives.

The Successful Applicant

You are an experienced finance and operations leader who enjoys balancing strategic leadership with operational execution in an international setting.
You will ideally bring:

• A Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Management, or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in a senior finance and operations leadership role.
• Strong expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Experience with governance, compliance, risk management, and organisational development.
• A proven track record of driving process improvements and operational efficiencies.
• Strong people management and leadership capabilities.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• A proactive, analytical, and solution-oriented mindset.
• Fluency in both Dutch and English.

Nice to Have

• Experience within the NGO, not-for-profit, or international development sector.
• Knowledge of Dutch finance, tax, and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience managing outsourced service providers.
• Familiarity with modern ERP systems, collaboration tools, and cloud-based environments.

What's on Offer

• Gross monthly salary between €6,200 and €7,000, depending on experience.
