Job summary

Cisco Isovalent is seeking a skilled Software Engineer with long-term Linux kernel experience to develop forward-looking features related to BPF, networking, and security, and bring them into Cilium/Tetragon. You will work with a highly collaborative team to advance cloud-native networking and security within Kubernetes environments.

Ideal candidates have a CS degree, 2+ years of upstream kernel track record, 5+ years in C, and a public record of open-source commits, with Go experience

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 2+ years of upstream Linux kernel track record.
• 5+ years of experience in C.
• Public open-source code commits are mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of new Linux kernel functionality related to BPF, networking, or security.
• Collaborate in a small technical team and contribute to upstream Linux kernel community.
• Engage with engineering, product, and customers to align on future direction.
• Speak at conferences (e.g., KubeCon, Linux Plumbers) when possible.
• Uphold engineering best practices and code quality.
