Job summary

Nearfield Instruments seeks an Industrialization System Engineer to translate the overall system design into a robust architecture meeting critical reliability, availability, diagnostics and cost targets.

The role requires leading cross-functional teams across system engineers, production engineers, project management and internal customers to ensure successful industrialization and deployment of next‑generation products.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in a technical field such as Electronic/Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, Chemistry or similar.
  • 8+ years of work experience in a high-tech environment with product development and concurrent design processes.
  • At least 3 years in an Architect/System engineering role and strong leadership qualities.

Responsibilities

  • Translate performance requirements into industrialization specifications and analyze results.
  • Set system-level KPIs linked to Availability, Reliability, Serviceability, Diagnostics, Cycle time and Costs.
  • Verify and validate industrialization requirements within budgets across conceptual and detailed designs.
  • Extract field data from supply chain, equipment, quality and manufacturing to drive improvement proposals.
  • Create data-based models to predict KPI performance for cycle time, costs and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain a roadmap for Industrialization improvements and drive execution.

Job description

As Industrialization system engineer you will drive the development of Nearfield Instruments products by translating the overall system design into an architecture that meets the critical industrialization requirements such as reliability, cycle time, availability, diagnostics and costs.

To be successful, it is important that you like to take the technical lead between different stakeholders (Like: system engineers, architects, production engineers, Program & project management, and internal customers like Factory and CS).

This role provides you the opportunity to influence product design to enhance system reliability, availability, diagnostics, and cycle time.

We are looking for someone to:
  • Translate performance requirements to industrialization specifications, perform pre-feasibility studies and analyse the results.
  • Set and align with relevant stakeholders the system level KPIs linked to Availability, Reliability, Serviceability, Diagnostics, and Cycle time and Costs.
  • Be responsible for the verification and validation, which includes documentation, of industrialization requirements within agreed budgets in the conceptual and detailed designs and close the feedback loop from Field and Factory.
  • Pro-actively seek out field data and knowledge from: supply chain, equipment, quality and manufacturing engineers & field data to define improvement proposals and study items focused on industrialization.
  • Create and use data-based models to predict the performance on cycle time, costs, availability and other critical industrialization KPIs.
  • Develop and maintain roadmap: Create a quantified roadmap for Industrialization improvements, align with stakeholders, and drive execution.

Education and Experience
  • A Master Degree or PhD in a technical field such as (Electronic / mechanical) engineering, (applied) physics, chemistry, natural science, technology or similar
  • 8+ years of work experience in an high-tech, high-pace company as an expert of product development in a concurrent designing process with a solid theoretical and hands-on experience in the field of Reliability, Availability, Manufacturability and Serviceability
  • At least 3 years of previous experience in an Architect/System engineering role.
  • Leadership and entrepreneur behaviour, being capable to give direction to teams and projects/programs (Cooperative yet persistent)
  • Able to utilize a "helicopter" view, while discussing in-depth with engineers on their domain of expertise
  • Able to inspire, motivate and influence highly skilled professionals
  • Strong analytical ability with a pragmatic and mostly a "can do" mentality
  • Stakeholder management: Influence, negotiate, and build relationships.
