Job summary

Avular is seeking a senior Industrial Design Engineer to shape the look, feel and physical form of our mobile robotic systems. You will own the design direction from concept to production-ready hardware, balancing aesthetics with robust mechanical execution.

You will lead a small design team within a mechanical engineering context, collaborating with electronics and software to deliver integrated, high-end robotic products from Strijp-T, Eindhoven.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in industrial/product design for high-tech products.
• Owns aesthetic concept and production-grade execution.
• Strong portfolio across design range.
• Skilled in concept development and early sketches.
• Expert in high-end 3D CAD with complex surfaces.
• Hands-on prototyping and testing.
• Experience leading small design teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the design direction for assigned robotics projects, from concept and early-phase sketching through to a manufacturable, production-grade result
• Develop innovative product concepts that balance aesthetics, usability, manufacturability and performance
• Translate functional requirements into clear, elegant mechanical architectures, often with integrated compact electronics
• Communicate complex design proposals visually and present them to both technical and non-technical audiences, including problem framing and solution alternatives
• Produce high-quality 3D CAD, advanced assembly and complex surface modelling, with well-structured design documentation
• Lead and mentor a small team of engineers through the design process, from concept to production
• Collaborate closely with electronics, embedded software and systems engineers to deliver fully integrated products
• Hands-on prototyping and testing of designs
