Job summary

Vistra Netherlands is seeking a Senior Payroll / HR Consultant to support client portfolios and deploy payroll and HR expertise across international business contexts.

You will join a tight team of payroll professionals, advise on wage tax, social security, Dutch employment law and occupational health and safety, and help onboard new clients while seeking opportunities to upsell and expand services.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a similar payroll/HR consultancy role.
• Experience coaching junior payroll team members (preferred).
• Proven sales, upselling and client relationship management skills with medium/large organisations.
• Degree in HRM, Economics, MER or Payroll-related field.
• Strong knowledge of Wage Tax, Social Security, Dutch employment law, pension, 30% ruling and WKR.
• Strong ICT skills and commercial acumen.
• Excellent communication in English and Dutch.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate onboarding processes for new clients.
• Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for high-profile clients.
• Provide expert advisory on HRM, Social Security, Wage Tax and related areas.
• Advise on occupational health and safety.
• Identify opportunities to upsell products/services to clients.
• Contribute to development of add-on products/services.
• Guide clients through payroll software transitions with expertise.
• Manage relationships with high-profile clients and stakeholders.
• Serve as primary contact for external parties including Dutch tax authorities.

Scope

In your day to day activities you will work with a tight team of Payroll professionals and you will play a pivotal role in driving our clients’ success.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitating seamless onboarding processes for new clients;
• Overseeing end-to-end payroll processing for high-profile clients;
• Providing expert advisory on HRM, Social Security, Wage Tax, and related areas;
• Providing expert advisory and guidance on occupational health and safety;
• Identifying opportunities to upsell existing and new products/services to clients;
• Contributing to the development and enhancement of add-on products/services;
• Guiding clients through payroll software transitions with efficiency and expertise;
• Proactively managing relationships with high-profile clients and stakeholders;
• Serving as the primary point of contact for external parties, including Dutch tax authorities.

Key Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably within an accounting firm, Corporate service provider, audit firm, or financial institution;
• Previous experience in managing or coaching junior payroll team members (preferred but not required);
• Demonstrated proficiency in sales, upselling, and client relationship management, particularly with organizations employing 20+ individuals;
• Bachelor's or master’s degree in HRM, Economics, MER, Payroll (e.g., PDL and VPS);
• Exceptional knowledge in various payroll domains, including Wage Tax, Social Security, HRM, and Dutch employment law;
• Proficiency in pension, 30% ruling, and WKR legislation;
• Strong ICT skills with a knack for creativity and commercial acumen;
• Organizational sensitivity and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment;
• Outstanding communication skills in both English and Dutch, both written and verbal;
• Proactive mindset, collaborative spirit, and a commitment to delivering quality results;
• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing requirements.
